What each session covers

  1. Session 1

    Paths and price tags

Mapping college, trade school, certificates, apprenticeships, and direct-to-work routes, then costing each one out over its full length rather than per semester.

  2. Session 2

    Financial aid and the FAFSA

What the FAFSA asks for, who needs to contribute information, grants versus loans versus work-study, and how award letters compare between schools.

  3. Session 3

    Student loans without the fog

Principal and interest, subsidised versus unsubsidised, capitalisation, federal versus private terms, and what different repayment plans mean for a monthly budget.

  4. Session 4

Your first pay stub and taxes

Gross versus net, withholding and the W-4, payroll deductions, workplace benefits worth taking, and what filing a simple return involves.

  5. Session 5

    First big decisions

Rent affordability and lease terms, deposits and utilities, the true cost of a car including insurance and maintenance, and how relocation changes a budget.

By the end you will be able to

  • Compare the total cost of two or more education or training paths
  • Complete a FAFSA readiness checklist and gather the documents needed
  • Explain interest, subsidised versus unsubsidised loans, and repayment options
  • Read a pay stub and calculate take-home pay from a job offer
  • Understand the basics of filing taxes and common credits
  • Evaluate a housing or transportation decision against monthly income

What's included

  • A cost-comparison worksheet for education and training paths
  • A FAFSA document checklist
  • A pay stub and offer-letter walkthrough sheet
  • A rent and transportation affordability calculator

This is a good fit if

  • You are deciding what comes after high school
  • You have an award letter or job offer you do not fully understand
  • You want to avoid borrowing more than a path is worth
