About us
A nonprofit built around one gap: money knowledge in the transition to adulthood
Ascend Youth Initiative Inc. focuses on practical financial literacy and economic empowerment for youth and young adults ages 16–26, with a general service context in Indiana.
Our mission
Our mission is to empower youth within our community, starting with high school juniors and seniors and extending through post-secondary freshmen, by providing them with financial literacy and education opportunities.
We accomplish this by connecting young people to financial experts, educators, and community organizations committed to their growth. Through these vital partnerships, participants are given access to the knowledge, mentorship, and practical resources required to achieve financial literacy, move toward financial freedom, and establish lasting economic stability.
The initiative is dedicated to ensuring that all youth can access these opportunities without facing economic barriers, helping them build a secure financial future.

Our vision
What we are working toward
A community where every young person, regardless of background or ethnicity, has access to financial literacy and opportunity without economic barriers, enabling them to build lasting economic stability and sustainable financial futures.
The challenge
Why this work is needed
Many young people enter adulthood without a fundamental understanding of personal finance. That gap leaves them less equipped to manage money responsibly, navigate credit systems, and make sound financial decisions.
The challenge is heavier for students from underserved communities, where economic barriers limit access to educational resources, mentorship, and career development. Without early guidance, those gaps can carry forward across generations — affecting youth, their families, and the wider community.
Who we serve
Target population
- High school juniors and seniors seeking foundational personal finance knowledge
- Post-secondary freshmen and sophomores navigating new financial responsibilities
- Youth in trade school and technical school programs
- Youth preparing to transition from school into financial independence
The initiative will initially support these groups in Indiana communities, with possible expansion as the program grows.
Our approach
A bridge between youth and financial knowledge networks
By collaborating with financial professionals, educators, and local community organizations, we open doors for young people to access both financial education and meaningful mentorship.
Working alongside schools and community institutions, programs are delivered in formats that are accessible and relevant to youth — laying the groundwork for long-term economic stability.

Financial language is often intentionally complicated. We explain concepts plainly so people can act on them.
Dignity and respect
No shame, no lecturing. Every participant is treated as capable of making informed decisions.
Practical application
Learning is tied to real tasks — reading a pay stub, comparing accounts, setting a savings target.
Access
We aim to reduce barriers to participation, meeting young people where they already gather and learn.
Long-term thinking
Confidence today matters, and so does building habits that compound across a lifetime.

We share general education and are clear about what we do and do not provide.
